Top Ranked!

13 Students Top Scored in an International Computer Science Contest

We are pleased to inform you that as a part of Champion School’s STEM program, our students participated in an international Computer Science contest in which 100s of teams from across the US and the world participated. The tournament covered diverse and challenging computer science topics and Programming skills. Our elementary and junior-high teams were top-ranked in their respective categories at this tournament. Additionally, we had a total of 13 students with a perfect score. In Junior Division, we had 11 students participate and 8 won. What is even more important is the exposure to these advanced concepts that less than 1 in 1000 students typically receive.

Lots of dedication and more than 100 hours of investment into curriculum preparation and coaching was provided by the principal herself to provide this fantastic opportunity to learn and test their skills against the very best in the world.

We, at Champion School, are committed to doing our utmost to make sure that we do everything in our ability to help our students become leaders of (a fast-changing) tomorrow and live purposeful lives and contribute positively to the world that we live in.

Please Join us in Congratulating all of the students/families who participated in this tournament.

4 Undefeated Teams

at the Harvey Milk Classic Middle School Debate Tournament

We are pleased to inform you that our students once again did well at this weekend's Harvey Milk Classic Middle School Debate Tournament. In the Advanced Category, we had 3 undefeated teams and one team that was 2nd overall. In the beginner category, we had one team of 5th graders who were undefeated and came 2nd overall.

Even more important than winning, each of our students enjoyed preparing and enthusiastically participating in the whole process. Virtually every student at Champion thinks "Debate is so much fun", even though it involves vigorous preparation.

Debate teaches some extremely important life skills:

  • Creativity and Ideation

  • Critical Listening and Questioning

  • Persuasive Writing

  • Effective Presentation/Communication

  • Collaboration on a Project

  • Servant Leadership

In the next 15-20 years, with automation and artificial intelligence, the future that our kids are marching into will value these skills far more than most people can imagine. Champion is a RARE elementary/middle school that offers competitive debate in its program and nurtures these skills in all of its interested students. This program is even more valuable to kids who are not naturally gifted in these areas and need to be encouraged and coached to improve these skills.

It is never too early to get started with teaching your child these critically important life skills. Please join us in congratulating all of the students who enthusiastically participated not only in the tournament but also in the whole preparation process.

Overall Champions and The 2nd Place Finish

...at the Fall 2017 Bay Area Middle School Debate Tournament

Our 5th - 8th grade students participated in a regional debate tournament this weekend, against the very best middle school debaters in the Bay Area.

We are happy to inform you that one of the Champion School teams was "Overall Champions" and one of our teams came in 2nd in the tournament. Our students also came in 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th in best speaker category. In addition, five of our teams were undefeated.

A lot of this is possible because of the culture of collaboration among our students. Every resolution is a big project that can only be achieved through a collaborative effort, and leadership by a few. Every argument must go through rigorous critique from every conceivable angle -- the process leads to these young kids learning how to analyze issues and frame arguments against a strategic framework. These are important life skills, don't you agree?

While winning these awards validates the quality of preparation of the Champion team. What is even more important is desire/enthusiasm to participate from our students. Participation in debate can have a profound impact on the growth of a child towards becoming a leader of the future and live a purposeful life. It is however, not as common as one would expect. Only the extremely motivated students participate in debate -- less than 1 in 1000. We are proud to have a set of students and families that value this very educational activity.

Please join us in thanking all of the parents and teachers who support our school team, and congratulate all of the students who PARTICIPATED.

Champion School students are finishing the school year with a bang in all spheres. We are proud to tell you that 11 Champion School students won awards in the US Math Kangaroo contest, and one of students placed FIRST IN THE US and in CALIFORNIA.

In 2017, Champion students received coaching in, and opportunities to participate in multiple Math, Abstract Reasoning, Science, Public Speaking, Debate, and other competitions. They have won lots and lots of awards. Even more than awards is participation and learning/growth. We can state with confidence that you would be hard pressed to find ANY SCHOOL that provides ALL OF ITS STUDENTS more opportunities to participate/compete in advanced cognitive developmental areas.

We would like to thank all of the teachers who provided countless hours of coaching to all of these kids, as well as the staff who created the customized curriculum for all of these contests. Please join us in congratulating all of the students, their teachers/staff, and their parents.

CONGRATULATIONS -- 40% in the National Honor Roll

A few weeks ago, many of our 2nd grade and above students participated in a yet another National Math competition.

We are happy to inform you that ~40% of our students who participated, made the National Honor Roll and ~10% of our students who participated received the top score possible. Champion School's participation rate is probably 100X++, as compared to the norms of a typical school.

As many of you know, we have spent quite a few weeks providing coaching to kids for various Math, Science, Speech & Debate, and other competitions. You would be hard pressed to find a school that offers as much coaching and opportunities to compete in cognitively challenging competitions, to ALL (NOT, JUST A FEW) of its students.

We would like to thank all of the teachers who coached and encouraged these kids. Please join us in congratulating all of the students as well as their parents.

Bay Area Middle School PF Debate Champions

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 9th place finishes

At the Bay Area Middle School Debate tournament, six Champion School teams participated in two categories. In one of the categories, Champion School teams finished as Overall Champions and in 9th position. In the other category, Champion School teams finished in 2nd, 3rd and 5th places. Regretfully, Champion's 3rd and 5th place finishers were were bumped out of the tournament by a higher seeded Champion team without actually competing or losing -- unfortunate luck of the playoff bracket. Our heart goes out to those teams. So, we ended up having 3 teams who were undefeated in the playoffs.

Even more than winning, we are very proud of all of the students who participated. The student participation rate in these types of cognitively challenging activities at Champion School is likely 50X - 100X higher than the norm. Debate is a great activity to develop critical life skills such as research, persuasive writing, collaboration, communication, critical listening, collaboration, and strategic thinking skills. It is hard to imagine an activity that is developmentally more beneficial for beautiful young minds. Additionally, you would be hard pressed to find a school that offers its students more coaching and/or more opportunities to compete / challenge themselves in advanced cognitive activities.

Please join us in congratulating all of the students who participated as well as their parents.

Grand Prize, 1st, 2nd and IEEE Special Recognition Awards

We are pleased to announce that Champion students have once again outperformed and won many awards at the Synopsys Science Competition. One of students has also been invited to the Broadcom Masters competition. Not only was our participation rate more than 100X higher than the average, our award winning rate might have been equally high.

We, at Champion, constantly strive to provide our students with the encouragement, opportunities and support to challenge themselves, and hopefully become the leaders of tomorrow. In fact we are proud to say that you would be hard pressed to find a school that provides more cognitively challenging opportunities and coaching/support to ALL of our students (not just a select few). We are also happy to inform you that some of these ideas/projects started during the summer of 2016, which had a lot of emphasis on hands-on technology, science and innovative thinking.

We are very proud of our students who participated, and would like to extend our thanks to teachers, coaches and parents who worked with these kids and helped them shine.

Please join us in congratulating all of the students who participated, as well as their parents.
